Securing Networks with Cisco Routers and Switches (SNRS) v3.0 5 days Lecture/lab
Course description
Previously known as SECUR v1.1, SNRS 1.0 is a 5 day, lab-intensive course. This course is aimed at providing network specialists with the knowledge and skills needed to secure Cisco IOS router and switch networks.

You will learn how to secure the network environment using existing Cisco IOS and CatOS security features, configure the three primary components of the Cisco IOS Firewall Feature set (context-based access control (CBAC), intrusion prevention, and authentication proxy), implement secure tunnels(VPNs) using IPSec technology, and implement basic access switch security. In addition, you will complete a security audit using functions embedded in Cisco Security Device Manager.

Learning objectives
After you complete this course, you will be able to:
  • Configure, operate and troubleshoot Cisco Secure ACS for Windows Server
  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot Cisco IOS Firewall including Authentication Proxy, Context Based Access Control (CBAC) and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)
  • Implement IPSec VPNs using IOS Routers in site to site and remote access configurations, including using digital certificates
  • Use the Cisco Security Device Manager (SDM) to complete a wide range of configuration tasks on an IOS router

  • This course is designed for network professionals tasked with designing and deploying Cisco security features in an IOS-based internetwork. This course is also recommended for anyone pursuing any of several certification opportunities, including Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP), any of the three Cisco Security Specialist certifications (Firewall, VPN, and IDS), or the Information Systems Security (INFOSEC) Professional certification authorized by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS).

  • CCNA certification or equivalent knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of the Windows operating system
  • Familiarity with networking and security terms and concepts
